Computer Vision Syndrome

Digital eye strain is a group of eye and vision problems. These problems have been increasing in frequency over the past few decades. Many people have some symptoms if they use a computer or digital device for long periods.

Why does it occur ?

Letters seen on computers don’t have sharp and demarcated margins as they are in the form of pixels which are darker in the centre and fade towards margin. Letters typed in hard copies of books have well defined crisp margins. Therefore while reading on computer or phone eyes are continuously fluctuating between central sharp and peripheral faded part of the letter . This causes more strain while reading on computer as compared to same amount of reading using hardcopy of the book.
